Overview
Optical HREM micro is a compact form factor, streamlined 3D histological imaging system. Featuring similar hardware as the ultra and revision 1 system but with some adaptations to keep the system competitive and compact.
Features
Image Uncleared, Dense, Samples – One of the biggest benefits of HREM and therefore the micro is the ability to image whole dense structures.
High Resolution 3D Reconstruction – Micro imaging systems can perform well with up to 20 megapixel captures of blocks up to 25mm in height giving an abundance of morphological data.
Economical Volumetric Imaging – A good balance of resolution to cost, for the users wanting to achieve down to ~1 micron voxel size without a large price tag.
Upgradeable – Micro systems can be upgraded with XY stages after install to be able to perform some of the complicated optical tasks. As well as fluorescent add-ons.
Applications
The micro is suited to many applications in the 3D imaging domain such as:
Cardiovascular Research – Micro systems are closely related to the revision 1 optical HREM system, which has been used extensively in the field of cardiovascular research. Often used due of the voxel size to cost ratio allows researchers to see features in-detectable on other technologies.
Developmental Biology – Capture a wide range of samples in the field, from plant matter, mouse embryos and pups, zebrafish and more.
Plant Sciences – Image whole plant structures in 3D including barley and citrus fruit.
Many more – Our serial sectioning imaging system could be used to image much more, let us know your application.
Specification
The standard Micro configuration consists of the following:
Optics - Optical platform can image samples 20mm x 20mm x 25mm, with a variable zoom optic.
XY Optic Control - A fixed XY platform for the optics, no XY stages or fine adjustment for an efficient workflow. **
Channels - 1 Morphology channel illumination as standard for imaging traditional HREM but can be adapted to suit.
Software - Included OHREM Acquire capture software, no license and free support. With many layers of automation and features to streamline and improve workflow.
Imaging - 20 Megapixel monochrome image output for high resolution analysis. This can be adapted upon request.
Sample Extraction - Extraction unit for sample removal, this avoids debris remaining fixed to the sample.
Blades – Compatible with 60mm and 80mm blades only.
Encoder – An encoder for exact section thickness information for reconstruction.
Warranty - 1 year warranty with access to parts and our team.
Training - On site training for one or two full days, along with a year ‘getting it up and running’ help as you start to produce wonderful 3D datasets.
Consumables and Preparation - 1 Split mould for resin HREM samples custom made along with 20 chucks for HREM samples.
PC and Setup - PC setup with all software and drivers prior to install so you are ready to go.
*If greater sizes required an Ultra, is the solution.
** Some X, and Yaw adjustments exist to allow for centring but can be harder to position compared to the Ultra systems. If you need precise control, please use the add-on or consider the Ultra.
Add ons and extras
These add-ons and extras can be fitted after the machine is installed or purchased with the unit.
Multiple Illumination Channels - More than 1 illumination channel and filter set, this can include filter wheels/sliders. For imaging different fluorescence channels. Up to 3 controllable channels and intensity’s, adaptable in the acquire software.
Imaging - Micro can be fitted with different imaging setups, upon request. Higher resolutions, more sensitivity, colour or monochrome.
Wavelength Focus Adjustment - Wavelength compensation optical focus adjustment for adjusting focus shift between different colour channels. This can also be used as a digital focus.
Motorised Focus Control – Control focus via a motorised desktop controller for fine adjustment.
XY Optic Control – The micro can be fitted with a small XY stage for adjusting field of view and some light scanning. This will also enable users to image more than one sample in a block at a higher resolution.
Have an idea? – We do offer the ability to adapt each unit to specific needs. Such as if you wanted to use some extra piece of technology we can help. Adding features to software or hardware to suit your imaging needs.
Consumables – We offer quality split moulds custom made to sizes you require as well as chucks to fit them.
Service Contract and Warranty’s – We offer an all or nothing service contract and warranty. Meaning you are covered for all issues on the unit, and we will be here to help you get up and running as soon as we can. Conditions do apply.
